Executive Director’s Message

REACHING OUT TO OUR STA MEMBERSHIP

As the summer turns to autumn in these next few weeks, look for some new programs and events for our STA members.

On September 21, the STA and SMACNA/LI will be holding a “meet and greet” breakfast for our Long Island members at the Long Island offices of Grassi & Co.  At this event, we will be providing our Long Island members with a briefing on our legislative program, public agency advocacy efforts, and information on our general activities and services.  All STA members based on Long Island should consider attending this event.

On the evening of October 18, we will be holding our autumn general membership meeting at the Club 101 in Manhattan.  In addition to the networking opportunities at this event, STA General Counsel Andrew Richards will be “heading up” a panel discussion on Contract and Claims Management.  As a follow up to this presentation, a “white paper” will be generated for STA members by Mr. Richards on this subject.  Plans are in the works for some follow up seminars for our members in the months that follow on related topics.

The STA will next sponsor a seminar on December 5 at the offices of Cohn Reznick in midtown Manhattan featuring a presentation by Holt Construction and American Global regarding Holt’s innovative MWBE initiatives.  This presentation will be followed by a holiday reception for STA members.

In addition to these receptions and events, the STA will through its committees continue to meet with public agencies such as the School Construction Authority, NYCHA, and DDC to discuss issues of interest to our members and our SCA members.  If you are an STA member in good standing and would like to serve on one of these agency committees, please contact STA Senior Vice President Samantha Sweeney at ssweeney@stanyc.com.

Please be on the lookout for these and other STA seminars and events in the coming weeks.  Also, please do not hesitate to visit our website at www.stanyc.com for more information on the STA and its membership services.
