How has your firm been involved in the construction industry?
We are members of the WC&C Association, signatory to the carpenters, tapers and painters’ unions, SCA prequalified and WBE certified.
What are some challenges the firm has overcome?
The most difficult challenge was transitioning from open shop to union. Between seeking out a new client list and learning the ins and outs of payroll and benefits for a union workforce, there were many hurdles to overcome. We are still doing some housekeeping on that end.
What does the firm think it’s legacy has been for the NY construction industry?
Too early to say with certainty, but we hope that its positive for our industry, workforce and community. Part of nurturing thriving construction industry for future generations is assuring we have a properly trained workforce and well informed managers. To that end, we are strong supporters of union labor and professional construction education.
Why did you join the Subcontractors Trade Association?
As business owners, we realize it’s important to not be in a vacuum. As stated earlier, we also feel strongly about the advancement of our industry for many generations to come.
