PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Dear readers,

I am asking each of you to please consider supporting our Delay Damages Bill.

In June, our target legislation was passed by the New York State Senate & Assembly. This bill would provide for delay damages to contractors working on state agency and authority public works projects, where there is a delay that is both unreasonable and the state’s fault.

This is an issue that affects so many of us as subcontractors and it’s time we stand together to get these changes made.

Last year, the governor vetoed this bill. We only have a chance of approval this year if our subcontractor community comes to together to create a stronger voice of support.

Please send a letter to the governor. A template letter is linked here for your use.  Please email your letter of support as well to Leigh.Frany@exec.ny.gov.   In addition, please provide the STA office with a copy of your letter by emailing it to Samantha Sweeney at ssweeney@stanyc.com.
