PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Robert Weiss
President
Subcontractors Trade Association
A.J. McNulty & Co., Inc.

On June 1st, 2018, our industry lost someone very special – my father, Larry Weiss. Words cannot adequately describe my feelings at this point; he was not only my Dad, but he was my mentor, best friend, and business partner. I was blessed to have worked side-by-side with Larry for over 26 years, and I cherished every minute of it. As I often said to people who asked about our working relationship, “I love going to work with my Dad.” That sentiment never changed over the years – not once.

It is truly an honor to follow in his footsteps as president of the STA. He always taught me the value of what he called “extracurriculars.” To him, it was important to give back to the industry, and he did this in so many ways.  In addition to leading the STA, Larry was a past president of Allied Building Metal Industries and chairman of the BTEA. He also served as chairman of the Steel Institute of New York, president of the Building Stone & Precast Contractors Association, and a trustee of union benefit funds for Ironworkers Locals 40, 361 and 197 – all that in addition to running successful steel erection and crane rental businesses and finding valuable time to spend with his six grandchildren.

Larry was a kind and generous person who was deeply loved and respected by everyone who was lucky enough to have known him and he will be sorely missed. Rest in peace, Dad.
