GROWING STA MEMBERSHIP
We need your help in growing the STA!
With 320 subcontractor members and associate members, the STA can increase its influence with the State Legislature, City Council, Public Agencies, Owners, and the Media by demonstrating that we are the largest and most influential voice for union subcontractors in New York City.
As we enter a new fiscal year for the STA on July 1, we will be unveiling a new membership development campaign in the near future. The timing of this campaign to grow our membership will be crucial to assisting subcontractors functioning in an overregulated construction industry, now in an open shop business model, besieged by owners and general contractors who look at the subs as a bank to carry projects to their conclusion while being “nickel and dimed” for every change order. The STA can better represent New York City’s union subcontractors if you help us in recruiting new members thus showing the public sector, owners and labor that we have the “power in numbers”.
I ask that our subcontractors and affiliated industry associate members take the time to identify other union subcontractors, suppliers, and construction professionals who might become members of the STA so that we can more effectively advocate on your behalf. There is power in numbers!
Invite your colleagues to upcoming STA events such as our General Membership Meeting on September 10 or our Annual Golf Outing on September 16, so that they can meet some of our leaders and network with our members. You can contact us here at the STA offices at email@example.com or by phone at 212-398-6220 and we will get the prospective members our application and information materials quickly. You can also direct prospective STA members to our website at www.stanyc.com for more information about our association.
You, our members, are the backbone of the STA. You are the best source for recruiting new STA members and I hope that you will join our STA Board of Directors in building the STA to continue as the premiere umbrella organization for subcontractors here in New York City!
