It’s that time of year again, and I can feel the buzz in the air. The STA’s Annual Construction Awards Dinner is just around the corner, and the excitement is building. On Thursday, April 11th, we will gather together at the Grand Hyatt in what has become one of the industry’s hottest events. While the dinner is no doubt our biggest fundraiser, helping us remain the voice of New York City’s subcontractor community, it also provides an opportunity for us to celebrate those leaders who work tirelessly day in and day out to make this great City even better. Our 2019 honorees truly deserve this recognition, and I’m not only saying that because I am one of them!
This year’s honorees include:
Builder of the Year: Ralph Esposito, Lendlease
Labor Leader of the Year: Robert Walsh, Ironworkers Local Union No. 40
Public Official of the Year: Lorraine Grillo, New York City School Construction Authority & New York City Department of Design & Construction
The Michael Mazzucca Lifetime Achievement Award: Robert J. Ansbro, The New York Roofing Company & Eagle One Roofing Contractors
I am also proud to say that I will be accepting the Subcontractor of the Year Award on behalf of A.J. McNulty & Co., Inc., an honor bestowed upon my father, Larry Weiss, 29 years ago. I know he’ll be looking down and smiling. This one’s for you, Dad.
I look forward to seeing you all there on April 11th. It certainly will be a great night of networking and comradery, a chance to catch up with old and new friends alike. We drew over 525 attendees last year, and I’m hoping that even more will join us at our new and improved venue.
