PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Joe Leo
President
Subcontractors Trade Association
Atlantic Contracting & Specialties

Dear readers,

I would first like to extend a few Thank Yous to individuals who have worked hard the past few months for the association:

  • Christine Boccia of JD Traditional Industries and the STA Secretary: many of you know Chris, and know her love of golf as well as tireless work effort. Chris managed to put together a safe and very successful event for the STA & Women Builders Council joint golf outing on October 5. During a time when fundraising efforts are limited, this outing raised funds for our association, and gave attendees a much-needed day of fun. Thank you to Chris for her work on the golf outing and continued support of the STA.

Thrown for a loop like everyone else by the COVID-19 pandemic, the STA has had to work extra hard to create a realistic budget and plans for the future. Since June, the STA Finance Committee has been meeting virtually to do just that. I would like to thank the following committee members for their time, knowledge and hard work on this:

  • Anthony Campolo, CohnReznick and STA Finance Committee Chair: It is certainly the truth to say that we could not have done any of this without Anthony. He has brought a wealth of accounting expertise to our association over the years, and I know I speak for the whole association when I express my deepest gratitude to Anthony for his help during these uncertain financial times.
  • Robert Weiss, A.J. McNulty and immediate past president of the STA: I am thankful to have inherited the STA President position from someone who truly cares about the association. Rob has worked tirelessly for the STA the past three years as president, and has made my job easier by putting the STA in a position as leaders of the industry. I am grateful that he was willing to bring his knowledge as past president to the Finance Committee.
  • Jake Bidosky, Keystone Management and STA Secretary: Jake has been a part of the association world for years, and we are lucky that he continues to lend his time as an STA officer. Thank you to Jake for participating in the STA Finance Committee this year when we have needed it the most!

I would like to remind everyone that the STA Construction Awards is coming up virtually on November 17! This is a year when the STA needs the support of our members and friends the most. You can find out more information and register for the virtual ceremony or a journal ad by going to the event website: http://stanyc.com/2020awards/

For the baseball fans out there, I am excited to announce that New York Yankee legend Tino Martinez will be joining us for key remarks during the Awards Ceremony!

I wish everyone the utmost health and safety.

Very Best,

Joe Leo
