Executive Director’s Message

By Hank Kita, STA Executive Director

Dear STA members,

I want to update all of our members on what the STA is doing in regards to COVID-19 issues affecting the construction industry and business owners.

As rules, restrictions and new regulations arise, the STA is sending out bulletins to our members highlighting the most important information. A list of past bulletins and other industry notices and advisories can be found on our website: STA COVID-19 INFORMATION

We are meeting via conference call on an almost daily basis with the various union construction associations to stay up to date on the issues that impact your businesses.  We are also in touch with public entities on a regular basis that have a bearing on the construction industry.

In addition, the STA is also working to publish a COVID-19 FAQ Resource Guide for our members which will outline and answer, to the best of our ability, some of the more pressing questions and issues targeted to subcontractors and construction companies.

The monthly newsletter, Weekly Construction News, StayAlert lien reports, and general informational emails will continue as planned with a special focus on how COVID-19 is affecting the construction industry.

All events planned for at least the next three months will be reimagined as webinars or will be rescheduled for later in 2020 or early 2021. This includes the STA Construction Awards dinner, which has been moved from April 2, 2020 to November 17, 2020, remaining at the Grand Hyatt.

While the STA staff is working remotely, all phone messages and emails will be returned as quickly as possible, in most cases within the same day. You can reach me at hkita@stanyc.com or Samantha Sweeney at ssweeney@stanyc.com with any questions, concerns or comments about the current health crisis or any other issues unrelated to COVID-19.

We know this is a difficult, new situation that we as New Yorkers are struggling to react to. Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to support subcontractors and the construction industry during this time.

Hank Kita

Executive Director
