It’s hard to believe that we are almost at the beginning of a new decade -2020! Another year has flown by, and I‘ve been reflecting on the fact that I’ve now been actively involved with the STA for over 25 years. What an amazing ride! We’ve tackled major issues, introduced important pieces of legislation, and never stopped fighting for the rights of subcontractors. We may not have won every battle, but we always kept swinging. I am proud to have been your president for the last two and a half years, and I look forward to continued service even after my term ends next June.
Through all of 2019, the association has advocated on behalf of STA’s signature piece of legislation for this year, Delay Damages. Many of you wrote or emailed the Governor in support of this bill. Unfortunately, it was vetoed by Andrew Cuomo on December 13th. You can read our Executive Director’s message below for more information on this veto, but please rest assured that we will be responding to this veto and will be developing a legislative strategy moving forward.
I wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year, and I look forward to seeing many of you at our great slate of events in 2020.
All the best,
