It’s that time of year again – our annual construction awards dinner is just around the corner. On Wednesday night, April 11th, the STA will be hosting our signature event at Gustavinos’s in Manhattan. It will be a celebration of some of the best and brightest in our industry, and it is not to be missed. For those of you who do not know, here is a list of the honorees:

  • Builder of the Year – Jay Badame, Tishman
  • Labor Leader of the Year – Joseph Geiger, Carpenters
  • Public Official of the Year – Ronnie Hakim, MTA
  • Silver Shovel – Emad Lotfalla, Related Companies
  • Legacy Award – David Pinter, Zwicker Electric
  • Subcontractor of the Year – Michael Russo, Fresh Meadow Mechanical
  • Lifetime Achievement Award – Bill Shuzman, Allied Building Metal Industries

While all of our honorees are deserving of special praise, I want to invoke presidential prerogative and say a little something about our Lifetime Achievement Award winner. I have personally worked side-by-side with Bill Shuzman for over 26 years, and I can honestly say that no one has been a bigger champion of our industry or worked harder on behalf of subcontractors than Bill. He is a tireless crusader, always willing to volunteer for the thankless task of updating construction rules and regulations, both on a local and national level, and we are in a better place because of his efforts. Bill, you are truly deserving of the award; you will be missed in your retirement.
With that being said, I urge anyone who has yet to make a reservation for the dinner to do so as soon as possible. Space is filling up fast, so don’t delay. There is also room left to advertise in our souvenir journal, which is a great way to highlight your company and congratulate the honorees.
I look forward to seeing you all on April 11th!
