FELICE FARBER
Executive Director
Dear members,
2023 is off to a great start! As STA’s new Executive Director, I’m honored to join the leading voice of the subcontracting industry as we collectively grow the Association and further improve each member’s success in 2023.
I thank Hank Kita for his dedicated service to the industry and STA and wish him a well-deserved and wonderful retirement.
You’re encouraged to join us in honoring Hank with a Special Industry Service Award at STA’s 2023 Construction Awards Gala on April 12. (Click here to register.) As a special addition, we are recognizing Emerging Leaders in our industry and hope that you will nominate the rising stars in your organization (Click here for nomination form).
Looking and Leading Forward
Obtaining equitable relief for subcontractors to address the unprecedented spike in material prices in 2020 and 2021 remains on top of the STA’s agenda. We are disappointed the Governor vetoed the material price escalation bill but are not defeated and will continue to press for equitable relief.
We will redouble our engagement with public owners and general contractors, meeting regularly with key city agencies and authorities, and establishing general contractor/subcontractor working groups and networking opportunities.
Our efforts in 2023 will be laser-focused on providing added value for you and our membership through enhanced educational programs and seminars, assistance with issues, networking opportunities and stronger legislative advocacy.
The STA has several standing committees – ranging from Young Professionals to a Change Order Working Group and much more – that we encourage you to join in 2023. Your engagement is critical to advance the industry, and we offer a wide variety of programs to support your needs and advance your policies.
I look forward to hearing from you and working together to enhance the union subcontracting industry in New York City.
Warm regards,
Felice Farber
Executive Director
